Chandle Square – Getting Ready For A Busy 2012

Chandler Square is one of the unique shopping and eating areas in Port Jeff with over 12 Eateries and Stores. Anchored by the landmark restaurant , Village Way on one end and The Port Jeff brewing Company on the other end. Even though two stores called it quits last year, the good news is the remaing shops and eateries are holding there own and planning for a good year! Maybe it the mild winter or that some merchants like myself feel that after 3 years of recession, the worst is hopefully behind us. Whatever it is, there is a lot of optomistic feelings in Chandler Square that 2012 is going to be a good year!

Both owners of Tumi , John Cotter and Maria Caballero who sell high quality clothing and other items form Peru, told me that 2011 was their best year ever. Mr Cotter is very optomistic about the future and said ” I believe 2012 will even be better! Our regluar customers loved our 2011 collection and we will not disappoint them in 2012!”

Agnes ( part owner ) of Eat Piada which opened in May 2011, is also optomistic for 2012. ” We have a clientele from all over the Island who stop buy regularly to enjoy our freshly prepared and healthy menu”. Eat Piada is always updating their menu. I asked Agnes if she had a slogan and she said ” Eat Healthy, Eat Piada!”

John Diaz of Imagine Gallery has been busy finding new art work and planning his 2012 special events and lining up the dates for his popular meet the Artist Exhbits. In the Port Jeff Motorcycle Store, we are busy making room for the new line of Bates Boots which are very popular with the motorcycle and law enforcement communities, finalizing spring orders and tracking down Son’s of Anarchy latests merchandise. Even though it may be off season in Port Jeff there is lot of activity in Chandler Square. Next time you get a chance, grab a steamy hot choclate at eat Piada, a hot tea at You, Mea and Tea or maybe sample a brew at The Port Jeff Brewing Company. You’d be suprised there is a lot going on in Chandler Square in 2012!
